Douglas, Isle of Man, 27th June 2017 – The Satellite Interference Reduction Group (IRG) will be holding its Annual Workshop on 25th and 26th October. This year the workshop is being held in Brighton, UK, at the Brighton Harbour Hotel.
This year’s annual workshop shall discuss the technological advancements that are helping to reduce satellite interference. Discussions will include key topics such as Carrier ID and how the FCC regulations will affect broadcasters, VSAT interference and if the new tools developed have had the desired effect. Assessing the scale of the issue in C band interference across satellite and terrestrial systems and asking, can we share? A special session will ask “Is C for conflict or C for collaboration?” In addition, it will look to the future and how big data and machine learning could have a major impact on error resolution and cyber security asking; “Where will BIG Data and Machine Learning take our industry?”
Attendees will be offered an in-depth overview of the technologies and tools available to increase efficiency and help solve interference, ranging from geolocation and automation to modem technology. Industry experts will be on hand to offer their expertise during these debates, analysing new initiatives currently on the horizon. To further add to the discussions, real life examples of interference will be offered from both operators and users.
Martin Coleman, Executive Director, IRG, commented: “Satellite interference is still with us impacting the satellite industry, and we hope that by conducting these annual workshops, we provide a place for all our members and guests to attend and create an invaluable discussion forum to help the industry move forward looking at the bigger picture and reducing the root causes.”
This year’s speakers are still in the process of being announced. Among the line up so far is Richard Rudd from Plum Consulting, and Mark Dickinson from the Space Data Association.
