In the next few weeks many of us from SIG will be heading to Washington D.C. to attend SATELLITE 2024. With satcom adapting to new verticals and uses, it’s an exciting time for operators, vendors, manufacturers, and service users to gather and discuss the latest technologies, as well as any gaps in the market caused by fresh technical challenges.
Virtualisation is certainly in focus for the industry, with many operators looking to service the wider communications network through bridging connectivity gaps. We are partnering with Intelsat to host a session surrounding the current state of satcom and virtualisation, where we will discuss use cases, the technical challenges, and the solutions on the market, as well as the products needed to enhance capabilities.
Flat Panel Antennas are set to be at the forefront of discussions at this year’s exhibition. Popular with customers, FPAs are becoming more and more prevalent withing satcom networks and establishing performance, resilience, and reliability is crucial in ensuring operational efficiency. The challenge lies in the lack of industry standards, and coordinating an approach is critical in fulfilling quality of service whilst safeguarding spectrum. To explore how the industry perceives FPAs, SIG has partnered with GSOA to present a roundtable in which operators, manufacturers, and vendors are invited to discuss their observations of FPAs in the last year, the latest technologies being developed, and ways in which the industry can form a more cohesive approach to promoting performance. This breakfast session will be hosted by Kratos on Monday 18that 10:00.
RFI continues to be a discussion within satcom, with its management being a daily consideration within satcom operations. SIG is partnering with Quadsat to host a drinks reception at SATELLITE on Tuesday 19th at 16:00. This is open to all and will take place at stand 1347. There will be an opportunity for attendees to learn how Quadsat is optimizing the world’s radio spectrum with its system, which utilises trailblazing drone technology, for test and verification of radio frequency equipment.
Celebrating the industry is a key part in driving it forward, and we are looking forward to hosting our networking evening on Monday 18th at 18:00. The winners of the SIG Awards will be announced by sponsors Intelsat and ST Engineering iDirect at the event. It will be a great chance for the industry to meet up and review the latest technical advancements, as well as the latest observations from an operational perspective.
We look forward to catching up with our members at the event and I am sure there will be a wealth of innovation being displayed. We will be sharing our pick of the most innovative solutions through our social media channels, so make sure to follow us on Linkedin and X.
Please note, you must register to attend the FPA Breakfast Roundtable and the SIG Networking Evening event.
