ETL Systems, a global manufacturer and distributor of critical RF equipment for satellite ground stations and RF components, has launched a new range of Frequency Converters for its Falcon range.

Engineered with advanced agility and precision, the new Falcon modules offer enhanced RF performance, flexibility and cooling capabilities for uplink and downlink RF signals operating in the L-band to K-Band spectrum.

Its state-of-the-art design and agile functionality also ensures optimal signal reception and processing.

The new Falcon range, codenamed Falcon2, is the latest product to join ETL’s extensive range of Falcon upconverters and downconverters – which possess greater module capacity than any other convertor chassis on the market, with the technology also hot-swappable, completely independent of the Falcon module.

Satellite teleport customers around the world rely on ETL’s Falcon converters to change the frequency of, and transmit or receive signals between the modem/Integrated Receiver Decoder (IRD) and the Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA), Low-Noise Block (LNB) and Block Up Converter (BUC).

With machined 4-slot housing, Falcon2 has been designed to enhance performance, consistency and minimise spurious interference, with updated software for improved local oscillator cancellation also featuring upgraded synth registers.

Falcon2 includes an advanced 100MHz reference card with enhanced phase noise specifications that can be adapted to any external frequency without compromising the local oscillator lock, while retaining a 10MHz output option.

Ben Brown, Head of RF Hardware at ETL Systems, said:

“ETL’s heritage lies in RF and we know that RF performance remains a key priority for our customers. The Falcon2 frequency convertor modules represents a significant leap forward in frequency conversion technology and demonstrates ETL’s determination to keep pushing forward new technologies that enable us to meet the evolving needs of the industry.”
