Industry workshops provide an opportunity for experts to come together to share knowledge, discuss challenges, generate innovative thinking, and come up with solutions. These kinds of workshops are particularly important in highly technical fields such as the satcom industry. This has never been truer than now, as the industry moves through a period of transformation.
Satellite operators cannot work in isolation to address current and future challenges, the need to work together is clear. To meet this need, the Satcoms Innovation Group (SIG) organises regular member workshop that bring together people working at a technical operations level from across the satellite industry.
Here are 3 key reasons why it is worth attending a SIG workshop:
1. Opportunity to discuss common industry challenges
The rapid expansion within LEO, the need to adapt to multi-orbit environments, and the evolving technologies of flat panel antennas, cloud-based networks and 5G are all transforming how the industry operates.
The SIG workshops provide its members with an opportunity to discuss the operational and technical impact of the changing satellite ecosystem. The workshop environment provides members with the all-important opportunity to address issues within the industry, so that satellite communication is maintained as a leading form of connectivity.
2. Chance to work collaboratively and be part of the solution
Working in a collaborative way is a key driving force of the SIG. The group aims to foster relationships between operators, manufacturers, and solutions providers by providing a forum for debate. Becoming a member, and attending the workshops allows organisations to become a part of the solution.
3. Address problems, and get answers
SIG workshops also create the perfect opportunity for information sharing, through presentations, discussions, and of course through networking. Attendees can bring a particular problem to the workshop, and either share their solution, or find out how others are dealing with the same issue.
The next workshop will be a hybrid event taking place in Washington D.C on 16th – 17th of March 2023. As well as providing opportunity to discuss the operational and technical challenge that the satcom industry currently faces, attendees will also find out who the winners of the much-anticipated annual SIG awards are. The SIG awards celebrate the impressive contributions that companies, individuals, and educational institutions have made to help the satellite communications industry over the last year. The 2023 SIG Award nominations are now open.
