We are looking forward to partnering with Micro-Ant to host our 2022 workshop. After a tumultuous two years, it will be brilliant to see the technical members of our industry regathering to discuss the industry and the real impact on networks caused by recent changes.

Here are 5 reasons you should join us in Jacksonville at the end of the month:

  1. Discuss the latest technical changes within the industry

The last few years have delivered significant changes to the technologies behind satcom. From virtualisation and the cloud to the introduction of 5G within C-band, there have been many opportunities and challenges within the space. Do you feel that a problem within the industry need discussing and analysing? The SIG workshop is the perfect forum to raise discussions around the technical advancements within satcom.

  1. Hear how LEO is impacting the industry

LEO is clearly an important discussion to be having now and more specifically the impact large constellations may have on the rest of the space environment. We have invited Jaroslaw Jaworski from Redwire to discuss ‘The issue of space debris in LEO’ and questioning whether debris handling will become the new, sustainable market. Tim Stevenson, Head of Assurance at the SKA Observatory, will review LEO’s impact on astronomy in his presentation, ‘LEO: impact of large constellations to radio astronomy facilities’. Other LEO topics include, ‘The use of S-Band for telemetry, tracking and control by LEO satellites’, ‘The impact of LEO on space sustainability’ and a LEO case study.

  1. Discover the SIG Awards winners

To recognise innovation within the satcom industry, we launched the SIG Awards in 2020. This year we have received excellent nominations highlighting radical technologies and exceptional professionals. We look forward to recognising the award winners at the workshop.

  1. Learn more about our event partner, Micro-Ant

The SIG Workshop will be held at Micro-Ant HQ. Micro-Ant will be providing attendees with a tour of its facilities, as well as delivering interesting and diverse presentations as part of the agenda. SIG Director and Micro-Ant MD, Mark Steel, will be present his thoughts regarding ‘Interoperability – satellite & terrestrial’ and provide an update on the Flat Panel Antennas working group. James Messink, Micro-Ant CTO, will raise the question ‘Is a Flat Panel the wrong paradigm? The physics and limitations that cannot be broken’, providing an opportunity for attendees to discuss the current state of FPAs.

  1. Network with businesses offering innovative solutions

The most important aspect of SIG events is providing the technical operators from the satellite industry with an opportunity to meet with each other and discuss the technical complexities within satcom. As an open forum, discussions will be had by attendees from various corners of the industry, including satellite operators, manufacturers, and researchers.

This year, the workshop will be free to attend. Register now.
