Ledbury, UK, 11th November 2021 – The Satcoms Innovation Group (SIG) has opened the nominations for the second annual SIG awards.

The awards were created last year to celebrate the impressive contributions SIG members, individuals, and educational institutions have made to help the satellite communications industry. SIG members are invited to cast their nominations now, in the categories of Innovation of the Year, Cooperation of the Year, Educational Project of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year.

SIG is an open forum which promotes innovation to improve operational efficiency and reduce impact, saving time and money. The SIG awards are a way of showcasing the incredible work in the industry over the past challenging 12 months. Previous winners include QuadSAT, ESA, Te Pūnaha Ātea Auckland Space Institute and Shaftesbury School Student James Pester.

Helen Weedon, Managing Director, commented, “Last year’s SIG Awards proved the high calibre of our member companies, and we are looking forward to see what is nominated this year. As before, we are particularly proud of our educational awards – it is vital for the continued success of the industry that the next generation strive to further innovation and collaboration, and it’s an honour for SIG to be able to shine a light on some of the amazing initiatives across the globe.”

As an established organisation, SIG aims to increase efficiency, enable global cooperation and promote the most innovative thinking to address challenges surrounding the industry. By fostering relationships between all stakeholders, SIG aims to preserve satellite as a leading form of connectivity.

The deadline for submissions is 15th December 2021. Winners will be announced at the next SIG members-only workshop, the details of which will be announced soon. To submit a nomination or for more information please visit: https://satig.space/the-sig-awards/
