The people behind Europe’s leading space sector face-to-face media brand launch two specialist conference events to help connect Europe’s satellite operators and satellite industry supply chains with Europe’s maritime, aviation, telecommunications and broadcast media organisations.

Space Tech Expo Europe, Europe’s leading aerospace and satellite sector expo event, has launched two new conference events for 2021:

  • • Satellite Connectivity Summit 2021 / 16-17 November 2021 / Bremen, Germany
  • • Onboard Connectivity Summit 2021 / 16-17 November 2021 / Bremen, Germany

The satellite industry is diversifying itself by implementing services that go beyond broadcasting and capacity management, and is increasingly monetising B2B2C services and data capabilities through advanced ground networks, highly flexible and software-defined satellite businesses, and increased collaboration with service providers. With the arrival of 5G, the opportunity for satellite connectivity in remote areas as a way to strengthen terrestrial network capabilities, as and when required, is greater than ever.

The in-person Satellite Connectivity Summit 2021, brings together satellite operators, services providers and ground station operators with the telecommunications and broadcast media industries, to flip the script for the satellite services industry. The Satellite Connectivity Summit 2021 is dedicated to the successful development, integration and monetisation of the next-gen downstream satellite connectivity ecosystem, including 5G integration, data services and state-of-the-art high throughput satellite infrastructures.

Meanwhile, capabilities and applications for onboard and offboard connectivity solutions on vessels and aircraft in remote areas is soaring. The requirement for connectivity anytime, anywhere to improve passenger and crew experience and welfare, as well as the need to make both the maritime and aviation industries more efficient and sustainable, is rapidly fuelling this demand.

The Onboard Connectivity Summit 2021 brings together the maritime and aviation industries with over-the-top (OTT) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) service providers, network connectivity and technology providers, and satellite operators, to accelerate onboard and offboard connectivity capabilities on vessels and aircraft. The Summit takes a holistic view at the network technologies and system integration required to enable future Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, passenger experience and crew welfare services to future proof fleet operations.

Onboard Connectivity Summit 2021 and Satellite Connectivity Summit 2021 will be co-located with Space Tech Expo Europe 2021, Europe’s leading space technology exhibition, at the Messe Bremen, Bremen, Germany, November 2021.

Nicole Heins, Senior Conference Producer, Space Tech Expo Europe, said ‘we are delighted to be building on the success and popularity of the Space Tech Expo Europe conference programme with these two highly specialist new conference events, designed to serve Europe’s satellite industries. Connectivity is the focus of these events, both in terms of a topic we’ll be exploring, but also the format of these events, which have been designed to facilitate meaningful discussions and connect, in person, senior stakeholders from Europe’s aviation, maritime, telecommunication and broadcast media industries with satellite operators, ground station operators, SaaS service providers, plus network connectivity and technology providers. Nothing beats face-to-face when doing business.’

Nicole Noack, Managing Director, IAMA, said ‘the road of recovery for our aviation industry requires collaboration and togetherness, and as we are all humans, events like Onboard Connectivity Summit 2021 are necessary to connect on a personal level in a safe environment to build trust and ideate collectively. I am delighted to contribute, especially since maritime and aviation industry are united at this unique event’.

John Heskett, CTO, KSAT said ‘I am looking forward to being a part of Satellite Connectivity Summit 2021. At KSAT we bring a slightly different perspective to the conversation since our worldwide ground station service is primarily targeted to the EO services market while also providing gateway hosting services for the satellite telecom/broadcast networks. There are synergies between the markets both in terms of technologies as well as use cases that should continue to be explored and exploited.’
